Underwear on Outerwear Trend

Very First FCP Project

My very first project for my fcp course was all about trend forecasting, we were put into groups of 4/5 and were  given a trend between us that we would have to analyse and research from the AW 16/17 together and then present it back to the rest of our seminar group over 4 different moodboards. The trend my group were given was 'underwear on outerwear' which we all really liked straight away.

On mood-board 1 we had to summarise and analyse the trend, to do this we used online databases such as WGSN and Business of Fashion from these websites we found some of the key styles and messages, the types of materials that are used and the main colours. As well as this we found some key dates from when the trend first started when it died down and when it came back in fashion as well as some key names such as Kate Moss who played a huge part in millions of people noticing the trend back in the 90's.

Mood-board 2 was based all around the different media reaction from the trend; this meant looking through magazines, varied fashion shows, social media such as Instagram, snapchat and twitter to follow which celebrities are wearing the trend as they have a huge influence over what people in the world wear die to their status.

The third mood-board was based all around retail which was our primary research! this is when we went to London and searched around the stores to see how our trend has been adopted by different retailers and brands. we got to see the different prices of the different types and exactly how each store would promote the style for example was it just on the shelves or were lots of the models wearing them in specific ways. As a group we found that the styles of Metallic and suede nudes sold the best as they were more evening wear that looked more dressy that sold the most.

Our final mood-board was all about the consumers this is also where the London trip came into it as
when we were walking around the streets we were finding different consumers of the trend  and how they were adopting it themselves. We also interviewed some people who were wearing the trend and did a consumer profile as this gave us a clear idea of what kind of person was wearing the trend.
