Creative Concept

For our third project we were given a brand and an existing product; the brand being Land rover and the product being colour cosmetics and from this had to create a new product using these two things.
Before we started to create anything we went in with the research of both of them by creating mind maps.
For Land Rover we did a mind map and researched the history of the brand, what the brand aspires to be seen as etc. which gave us the 3 words of Durable, Heritage and Premium. For colour cosmetics we did a mind map of what we think make up is in 2016, as a group we thought about contour, definition, highlight, eyebrows, nude colours and how it is a statement now days.
From this we looked at the similarities between the two and thought about how they could relate which after long group discussions we came up with the idea of having male cosmetics relating the products to what a Land Rover reminded us of.
When researching we found that Land Rover was a very masculine thing, very country, adventurous and designed to be driven in difficult conditions such as through thick mud and up mountains as well as being a statement luxurious car for middle class people. These things led us to having male cosmetics with products such as a beard pencil to fill it in like people do with their eyebrows now days and linked it all together.

I really enjoyed working on this project even though we had such a short amount of time to produce the ideas and mood boards in, this is because my group were all so lovely to work with as well as all contributing ideas and willing to take part. It was also quite random being given to brands that had absolutely no connection to one another and then being told we had to think of a product that comes from both of them.
